First day of school!!! Er…I mean work! :)

It’s the day I’ve been anxiously waiting..the first day of school (work)!! I’ve been pretty excited as I feel like I wasn’t ready to close this chapter in my life just yet. I love teaching and I love teaching high school. I love the challenge, I love the stress (ha!), and I love the camaraderie and relationships I build with my students and co-workers. I just really love my job.

Walking in to my classroom feels like I never left (my room wasn’t used the year that I took off). There were a few things I needed to set up but for the most part, everything is good to go. In a couple of hours, all the seats will be filled and I’ll be up at the podium back to doing what I love 🙂

Have a great day friends!

Fave quote on the window–love me some Ralph Waldo Emerson!

What are you passionate about? Do you love your job as much as I do?

Do you remember your first day of high school?

  1. Hate my job, but love what I do. Does that make sense?
🙂 I am so excited for you to start this new chapter! Have a wonderful first day of school, friend! Those kids are so lucky to have you as a teacher!

  2. I love your podium! I don’t remember my first day of high school, not really, but I also attended the same school pre first-12th, so it wasn’t that big of a transition for me!

      • Yeah. Private prep school all the way. I loved school, and I went to one of the best, so I definitely knew in was lucky. Others took blatant advantage of it (the perks, I guess you could say), as they always do. but yeah, I started school with 70 classmates, 10-15 of which I also went to preschool with, our grade doubled in 6th grade, and then in 9th we got about 60 more, and graduated just over 200 in my class. We had a full campus (nicer than many colleges I know of!) So we were in a different building, but homeroom was in our science building (that my brother had also had his homeroom in, and I had had a class in) and so we were pretty comfortable. Not like the first day of JR high, when I flip flopped 2classes and went down to the gym instead of the right class! and we were in a different part of campus from elementary school! Talk about mortification!

  3. I love how you post your bibs at school – maybe it will inspire someone! I don’t think I remember my first day of HS. I’m trying to think back. I remember lots of other days, but not picking up on the first day. Tough question!

  4. Oh gosh, I absolutely DO NOT remember my first day of high school…my brain is blocking it from my memory I think. Welcome back to school 🙂

  5. Love that you have your bibs in your classroom! I could definitely tell that school was back in session on my run yesterday, with an intersection I cross being a little more busy and having to wait for cars. I remember being super nervous my first day of high school and that’s about it. I remember so many other random things, but I can’t remember much about that first day. I start my job officially on Monday and I think I’m going to love it! 🙂

  6. I think we have similar passion levels for our jobs. Isn’t it fun to go to work everyday and not hate what you do? I’ve been there and it’s terrible! I love being able to help people all day long and to put smiles on faces of my participants. Thanks for educating the next generation!!

  7. I am happy to read in the comments you had a great first day! That is so awesome you love your job! I am not that passionate about my day job, but I am about my part-time job 🙂
