This Friday’s theme is:
5 Things I Will Do This Summer
Here goes!
(in no particular order)
1. Marine Corps Marathon Training Starts!!
Yes, I’m actually really excited about this. I’m a schedule girl and love having something on the radar to look forward to. I’ve also recently started reading this
and will decide if it’s something I’ll want to try for this marathon. Have you read it? What are you thoughts?
2. No Soda!!
As you might already know, I started a 100 Days of Summer Challenge with my challenge being no soda.
Day 6 and I’m going strong. I’ve been tested a few times, like when I refilled my mom’s soda at Chipotle, but so far I’ve passed 🙂
3. Lesson Plan.
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I’ll be headed back to work. I start early August and I’m really looking forward to it. Like I’ve said numerous times, I’m a planner and last summer after having my son in July, I took a year leave of absence to stay at home with the option to return if I wanted to the following year.
I’m so glad I left myself the option.
I’ve loved being home with my kids and am grateful I was able to have that opportunity. But I also want to see what being a working mom is like. I plan on working this upcoming school year and then deciding what my maybe more permanent place in life is as far as work is concerned. Luckily with teaching, I can go back when I can/want to.
4. Party Time!
OMG, my son turns one in July! I can’t believe how time flies. I remember people telling me that once I have kids, to really cherish the moments because they grow up so fast. I used to secretly roll my eyes but it. is. truth.
We’re having a birthday party for him beach themed and I can’t wait!!
5. Gym Visits
With our crazy Arizona heat, I’ll be making more gym visits to the treadmill. That means taking my kids to the gym daycare. We’ve done it a few times and they’ve been okay but only lasted about 30 minutes. Last week I took my daughter and she actually lasted more time! I’m hoping with more consistency they’ll get used to it and let mommy get in a good workout 🙂

I’m also a planner and love having something to train for! Exciting things this summer 🙂
THere’s just something about have written down things to do that motivate me 🙂
Your little boy is SO cute! It must be exciting to throw his first birthday party!
Thank you!! Yes, I’m so excited and seriously in sort of disbelief that it’s time!
1 thing I will do: GO CHEER ON HELLY AT THE MCM!!!! ❤
YES!! ❤
I love having a schedule as well – it keeps me motivated and on task. That’s great that you were able to take a year leave of absence and have the option to go back if you wanted. Good for you with that 100 day summer challenge, I’m not so sure I could make it that long without a pop. No big summer plans for me, but I want to get in cross training and clean up/de-clutter the house.
I’m not sure how long I’ll make it without soda either!! LOL! This is a true test for me.
I definitely could do some decluttering around my house too.
Something I’ll do this summer: run. I’m trying to run more and more. I really want to be confident enough to do a REAL 5k!
Have you tried a C25k app? I’ve heard good things about that program. Good luck to you–with consistency, you’ll be able to do it no sweat! 😉
nope, I haven’t heard of that! I’ll def. be checking it out! Thanks!
I gave up diet soda about 6 months ago and it was not as hard as I thought. I’m so glad that I did. MCM training sounds intense in the summer heat-good luck! #FridayFive
Soon you won’t even want/crave/think about soda anymore! I gave it up a couple of years ago and haven’t looked back. I’m all about unsweet iced tea now 🙂
Woohoo race training! I do much better keeping up with my life when I’m training. I think I need a schedule and stay busy or I don’t get anything done 🙂
You should write a book review when you finish reading 😉 I’m going to try stand-up paddle boarding.
I plan too!
Stand up paddle boarding sounds fuuuun!!
Great plans Helly. I’d like to add ‘watching the Heat lose!”
ABSOLUTELY!
Good luck training for MCM!! Adorable mommy/daughter selfie.
Thank you!! 🙂
yay!! thanks for linking up with us!! I’ll be right there with you on training for MCM. Look forward to seeing you in October 🙂
Thank you!! And likewise!! It should be a great time 🙂
yay MCM! also, i’m so interested to see if you decide to do RLRF – i’m so excited about starting that program!
It’s similar to what I already do but def with much more intensity. I do think I’m going to try it! 🙂
I am so jealous of your Chipotle 😦 but congrats on resisting the soda!
Awesome no soda plans! And MCM training! That is cool. My summer plans are to survive the next month that my puppy is not allowed to got out into the world…and then when her vaccinations are all done…to go hike every damn trail with her from here to San Diego! lol
