Mid-Week Musings II

I’m currently on my spring break and it’s been nice to relax and have time to myself–Especially convenient as I try to recover from my marathon debacle and sickness. (I’m starting to feel better, finally!)

I’ve been doing some reading and there’s a few things that have caught my eye. Things I’m interested to hear what you think:

Pregnancy Abs

I posted this link on my Facebook about this girl who is super, duper fit and even at 8 months pregnant, you can see the outlining of abs. Yes, she’s pregnant with abs.

She’s a model so it’s in her job description to be fit and from other news sources I read, she continued (continues?) to work out during her pregnancy (which I did as well but alas, did not have pregnancy abs). For some reason though, this girl didn’t turn me off like Super Abs mom did. This model wasn’t throwing it in our face how it’s perfectly possible to be pregnant with abs (she posted pics of her hot bod even before pregnancy lol) or telling us how we have “no excuse” not to have abs–pregnant or not. The model claims to enjoy working out and eating clean but still occasionally chowing down a burger. For that reason alone, I give her two thumbs up!

The Churro Dog

Leave it to Arizona to come up with a 1,200 calorie creation.

So the Arizona Diamondbacks debuted a new treat that consists of a churro inside a chocolate glazed donut and topped with frozen yogurt and whipped cream. Your choice of caramel or chocolate syrup (or both).

Yeeeaahhh……

Apparently, this dessert pairs well with the menu item introduced last year: an 18 inch bacon and cheese stuffed corn dog.

REALLY???

I like churros, and I like corn dogs, but no way could I do with all of the other stuff added to it. I’d have to run, I don’t know, like a thousand miles to burn off those calories lol!

Several people responded to my Facebook link saying they’d totally eat it but share the churro dog with friends. Yeah, if you’re gonna order it, I’d say def share it!

I guess the baseball days of popcorn, sunflower seeds, and regular ‘ol hot dogs are a thing of the past?

7 Marathons in 7 Days in 7 Continents

Remember in the first edition of Mid-Week Musings I wrote about this? It’s so funny because not a month later, a woman from our run club returned to tell us she’d done it! How I didn’t know she was even attempting it was beyond me! It’s def not something I’d forget!

Anyway, Ila runs with our group every now and then (she runs more with another local run club) and she was nice enough to speak at one of our meet ups to tell us about her adventure.

She indeed ran 7 marathons in 7 days in 7 continents! She talked a lot about the things mentioned in the article I shared last time about how lack of sleep was a runner’s biggest obstacle. And she said that camping in Antarctica was definitely a memorable experience.

Could you imagine running a marathon in Antarctica?

Of course I took a pic with her. I’m not sure that what she did is something I’d ever want to do (actually, no, it’s not lol!) but I think it’s super cool she did it and think it’s very inspiring.

So, tell me what your thoughts are.

Think Pregnancy Abs are the new thing? Even possible? Is this woman a freak of nature?

Would you eat the Churro Dog? What’s the highest caloric meal you’ve eaten?

Does running a 7 marathons in 7 days in 7 continents interest you?

  1. I’m totally down for a churro dog. I’ll eat one all by myself (and then roll around the floor in stuffed satisfaction). It’ll be the only thing I have that day.

I had no idea pregnancy abs were even possible. She’s not human. It’s not possible that she’s human.

  2. The pregnancy abs thing is amazing–I mean, how is that even possible? I mean, I’m totally jealous and good for her, but wow!

The churro dog is something I could take a bite of just to try but I think it would be WAY too much for me–but it wouldbe cool to try it. I don’t know about the bun, but maybe that makes it less sweet overall?

That is so awesome one of your run club members has done the 7-7-7, its an incredible accomplishment and I am sure her stories were awesome too!

  3. I saw the pregnancy abs thing too, and I have to say I’m not bothered by it or her. It’s her job to be fit and lean, and she needs to continue with that even through pregnancy, so it’s no surprise she hasn’t gained a lot of weight. People who are “concerned” about her weight are being ridiculous. Do they really think she’s not working with her doctor(s) to ensure that her baby is healthy? Oy.

Also, it’s super cool that your run club friend completed that challenge! Definitely not something I’d ever want to attempt, but amazing nonetheless.

    • Yeah, I definitely think it’s one of those situations that’s uncommon (I mean really, who has pregnancy abs?) and that sometimes gives people the urge to criticize. But like you said, duh, she’s getting routine doctor checks and if anything was questionable, I’m sure a doctor would advise her.

  4. Pregnancy abs are awkward and I definitely don’t like the look of them. That churro dog looks gross and like it would make my pancreas explode. And I am definitely NOT interested in the 7-7-7… or really the 1-1-1 for that matter.

  5. Totally agree about the ab girl.!
it’s cool and all..but I think the round belly is wayy cuter.!!

and grosss. That churro dog looks so gross. too much

  6. Pregnancy abs!? I didn’t know there was such a thing! I just want some abs, period lol. Hmm no to the churro dog for me. I like donuts, ice cream, and churros, but I don’t want them together. I don’t like my cake and ice cream mixing either lol. And I would like a maple donut. Haha gosh I sound picky! πŸ™‚ I have no idea the highest caloric meal I’ve ever eaten, but it’s probably been at least 1,200. I try to eat healthy the majority of the time, but when I splurge, I go big haha. Maybe that’s why I can’t get those abs hehe. I saw the lady from your run club on the news a couple weeks ago. Wow. That makes me tired just thinking about it, but what an amazing feat!

  7. I almost lost my lunch when i saw the pregnancy abs. It reminded me of the iso shake (or whatever it was) pic of the young girl with abs. It’s actually not good for you to have super strong abs when you are pregnant because it can kind of hold the baby in–this happened to my PT in ATL true story.

    • I feel like there was more pressure post pregnancy to lose the weight more so than staying fit while pregnant. It was like everyone was telling me I shouldn’t work out because I was pregnant and then when I had my baby, I needed to lose the weight fast. What the hell people??

  8. Those pregnancy abs just look wrong…but it looks like she hit the genetic lottery. Good for her. Even if I had the genetics, I wouldn’t look like that pregnant because I would be eating ALL the churro dogs. πŸ™‚

  9. Haha that churro dog sounds incredible and I would have to try it…but with help from friends of course! I actually did something similar recently. I told my manager about the bacon wrapped crust pizza at Little Caesar’s and we were talking about it for a while at the office. We recently had an office book club event, and I brought one over! We all had a piece and I didn’t have to eat the whole thing πŸ™‚ It was kind of gross by the way, and I’m glad I didn’t waste all my daily calories on it!

    • LOL, that’s hilarious!!! I love me some fast, yucky, food but the churro dog or bacon wrapped anything makes me a little queasy. I think my high caloric meal is always my #3 from McD’s–quarter pounder meal πŸ˜€

  10. Churro dog? I have to admit that sounds a little yucky. Also, I agree good for momma to be with the abs. I hope I can be that way when I’m pregnant! As impressive as the 7 marathons are I feel like that could be a little dangerous! Glad you are on the mend!

    • I agree! Even if you run them slowly, that’s a lot on your body. But, I do think there are some people wired differently that aren’t affected by it as much as others?
Thanks, I feel like I’m getting better day by day πŸ™‚

  11. Churro Dog? I think I just threw up a little in my mouth… I like them both – separately! but together just no. I’m lucky I ran one marathon and debating #2. No, 7 marathons on 7 continents doesn’t interest me but I am fascinated by this woman’s athletic ability. Been thinking about you and your bronchitis – happy to hear you’re on the mend!!!!
