Friday Five–More Random Stuff About Me

I’m linking up again with the girls from the DC Trifecta Cynthia, Mar, and Courtney for the weekly Friday Five–today’s theme, 5 Things About Me . (And if you want a double dose of Helly, I’m also a guest at my friend Jana’s blog, Running Vegetarian!)

As if you already don’t know a lot of randomness about me lol! I’ve shared quite a bit in the past here, here, and here.

Okay, let’s see…

1. Word Nerd Alert! I briefly noted in one of the aforementioned posts that I used to read the dictionary. When I was around 10, my grandpa gave me a really cool, old, hardcover dictionary that I thought was awesome. So I carried it around with me everywhere with a notebook where I’d write down words that interested me. I don’t why, but I thought this was fun and didn’t think it was weird at all.

I got to the letter ‘L’, and fittingly, to the word “lackadaisical” when I stopped.

2. I was a pregnant prom queen. Let me explain lol! I was chosen by my students two years ago for faculty prom queen. I also happened to be 7 months pregnant!

I got to keep the tiara!

3. I knew I was going to marry my husband before we even dated. We were friends in high school but never dated. I always thought he was cute and all around the perfect guy though. I found out near the end of our senior year that we were going to the same college so in his yearbook I wrote that if he wasn’t married in 10 years, that we were going to get married. We started dating our sophomore year and got married in 2005. It only took 7 years after I wrote that note ๐Ÿ™‚

4. *Peanut butter disgusts me. I can’t even smell it. Eating it makes me nauseated and I just tell people I’m allergic to it so that they can keep it away from me. (Sorry, Amber! Can we still be friends??)

5. I once walked into burglars stealing stuff from my house. I was in high school coming home from basketball practice. It was late and my mom wasn’t home. I didn’t hear anything walking up but as soon as I unlocked the door and walked inside, two guys went running out the back door! It was so freaky and for a second I had no idea what to do. This was pre everyone having a cell phone so I had to use our house phone to call 911 and the phone line was dead!! I ended up running to a friend’s house to call the police.

How about you? Any random things about yourself you’d like to share? Do you abhor peanut butter like I do or have walked into people stealing things from your house?

Hope everyone has a great weekend!! Are you racing or long running? Let me know!

* This was a repeat but I feel so strongly about it, it was worth another spot on the list.

  1. Good lord – that’s scary about the burglar! I’d probably pass out right there…
That’s so cute about the prom queen. did you have a girl? You could pass on the tiara ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I would have freaked if I walked into my house and there were burglars there, SCARY! I love that you wrote that in Ben’s yearbook, so so sweet! And the PB thing makes me laugh, I love PB so much and was TERRIFIED that Ash would be allergic to nuts and heard somewhere that I shouldn’t eat it when pregnant to stave on a potential allergy so for 8 months I didn’t touch anything with nuts or PB in it, it was TORTURE!

  3. aw, #3 is SO sweet!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I know a lot of people who don’t like peanut butter… I love it, but it’s also the only nut I’m not allergic to ๐Ÿ˜‰ and I’d FREAK if I walked in on burglars. OMG, I remember the pre cell phone era!

  4. So I died a little inside when I saw you hate PB. But I suppose we can still be friends- after all, it means more for me ๐Ÿ™‚
The image of you carrying around a notebook to write words that interested you is hilarious, and I love it! Way to embrace your inner-nerd as a child. I’m sure I never would’ve made it all the way to the letter L, though I’m obsessed with grammar and words as an adult.
Also, cutest story ever about writing in your future hubby’s yearbook!

  5. Wow reading the dictionary, that is crazy. The story about your marriage is super cool. Definitely a good story for kids and grand kids. Hoping to get in a trail run with TnT this weekend. We will see how the weekend goes.

  6. The yearbook story about your husband is just too cute! I’m not on the peanut butter train. In Ireland we just don’t have a ton of it (PB & J sandwiches are just not a thing), but over here in the US of A, you guys (well obviously not you!) put it in EVERYTHING.

  7. That’s crazy about walking into burglars in your home, I would have been completely freaked out!
I love peanut butter. Random thing – I am covered in freckles! I am racing tomorrow morning 10k – EPIC Canadian…can’t wait.

  8. Great list! Love the prom story:)
Crazy about walking in on someone robbing you. I haven’t had that personally, but when we were younger my sister was home while some guy was trying to break a basement window to get into the house, she called the police and luckily she got out before the guy got in and a neighbor scared him off.

  9. Our 5 year old HATES the smell of PB too. disgusts him. Crazy about the burglers. I was house sitting once and came in their casa and the back door was wide open. I thought it was robbers, but it turned out the neighbors were also house sitting and had accidentally left it open. Wish I had been given a heads up – was kind of a freaky situation.

  10. Your story about your yearbook proposal is adorable! Definitely one to tell the grand kids one day.

I’m a dictionary dork too. I have a dictionary stand in my office with a giant old dictionary on it and a big reading glass thingy to magnify it. I love the way it smells!

And you are so lucky the burglars ran away. Eek!
