Random Things I Love

Here’s my obligatory Valentine’s Day blog about love : )

Of course we love our family, we love our kids, we love our jobs (well some of us do!), we love running, but today I want to share with you the little things that make me happy–just out of the blue things that bring a smile to my face : )

Random Things I Love:
(in no particular order)

1. I love how all the people who live on my street park their cars on their driveways or in their garage. There are zero cars lined on the street and this really makes me happy.

2. I love that my mom never leaves me voicemails. She’ll simply text me to call her back.

3. I love that Coca-cola puts their caffeine measurement on their cans. When I was pregnant, I wanted to know how much caffeine I was consuming and there it was, easy to find.

4. I love that Arizona doesn’t experience daylight savings time.

5. I love our Tempurpedic bed. It’s seriously the best ever ever.

6. I love the remote start on my car. I can get the A/C going before I get in.

7. I love Craig Sager. His style choices amuse me.

8. I love the refrigerator in my room. Another pregnancy related love–I’d get so thirsty and make my husband go downstairs to get me water he finally just bought a mini fridge and it’s never left our room.

9. I love that Jimmy John’s delivers even if you’re buying just one sandwich.

10. I love that I haven’t conformed to mechanical pencils.

11. I love the timer on my oven. I barely discovered it about a month ago and a lot of food has been saved since then. (I seriously thought the button was just to set the clock time.)

12. I love it when people tell me they can’t believe I run with no music.

13. I love forever stamps. I never have to worry if I have the current stamp price I just stick it on the envelope.

14. I love that Derek Jeter stayed a Yankee his entire career. I’m not a Yankee fan, or really a baseball fan for that matter, but I like loyalty and there’s not a whole lot of that in sports nowadays.

Throwback Thursday–Costa Rican Honeymoon

Maybe because it’s “cold” here in Arizona (I feel horrible even typing that), but my honeymoon came to mind as I was sipping hot chocolate last night.

We took our honeymoon a few months after our wedding because we had just gotten the keys to our new home three days before we got married; we clearly had a lot of things going on at the time!

We chose Costa Rica as our honeymoon destination because we liked that it had a lot to offer. We could hike, swim, and do touristy stuff in the city. And we could zip line!!!

We spent 4 days there and the first day we went straight to the fun : )

Here I am getting ready…

Don't let the smile fool ya--I was scared!

Don’t let the smile fool ya–I was scared!

This is what awaited me…

um....yeah.....

um….yeah…..

The first time you do it it’s scary as all hell. But afterwards, it’s….freaking…awesome!!!

Now I'm just showing off ; )

It’s definitely one of the craziest things I’ve ever done. Sky diving and bungee jumping have zero appeal to me and not doing them ever in my life would be totally okay. But zip lining for some reason was something that I thought was doable crazy. Like even though I knew I would be terrified, I was curious.

We chose to do the full ride which was 14 zip lines. They happen pretty quickly. After you’d do one, you’d land on a platform to the next and so forth. You get absolutely stunning views. Really though, you wouldn’t catch views like that from any where else.

Afterward, we relaxed by taking a ride through the rain forest. This ride took us high up to the tops of the trees. Again, breathtaking.

The next day we went on a hike and looked at some of the cool stuff that was around.

You don't want to mess around with these guys..

Finally, we did some touristy stuff in the city:

Like our San Francisco trip, my husband and I took full advantage of the time we had in Costa Rica; we don’t mess around! Even though we were crazy busy running around doing stuff, we had so much fun and we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way : )

Travelin’ Pants/Blogs

My two buddies Salt and Julia from Here’s What’s Cooking tagged me on a fun blogger’s award. I like questionnaires probably as much as I like trivia games–which is A LOT. I think I just like questions 🙂

I’ve never seen the movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants nor read the book, but several of my students have so I have a pretty good idea of what it’s about. In any case, I’m honored to be a part of this “sisterhood” of pretty awesome bloggers. Thanks Salt and Julia!!

The Rules:

1. Post the logo on your blog.
2. Thank the person who nominated you.
3. Answer the questions.
4. Choose 10 or so other ladies who blog as your nominees.
5. Post the links to the nominees’ blogs and notify them on their blog.

Questions:

1. What is your favorite color?

Easy Peazy. PURPLE. For as long as I can remember, this has always been my favorite color. One big contributor? My mom. This is her favorite color too so I think since birth I’ve been hearing and seeing it’s awesomeness.

It’s also one of two colors of the Phoenix Suns. I’m a big basketball nut so it’s perfectly fitting that my home team has purple as one of its colors 🙂

2. Favorite Animal?

This one is tougher. I’m not a pet person so I don’t have a great affinity for dogs or cats or fish. If I had to choose, which I do, I would choose….a cow! My daughter loves cow and loves saying “moooooo”. Her all-time favorite book is this one in Spanish–

Favorite Non-Alcoholic Drink:

Another easy one 🙂

Facebook or Twitter?

Well I just joined Twitter for my blog page and am still trying to figure things out. I’d pick Facebook because while I personally don’t divulge too much, I actually like seeing what other people are up to. I’m constantly being shocked and entertained at how much and what people share. I also like it because of various groups I’m in. I’m still getting the hang of navigating and up-keeping my blog page on there but so far it’s been fun.

Favorite Pattern?

I’m a solids kinda gal and prefer no patterns. If you were to peak into my closet, you’d see tons and tons of plain colored tops of different fabrics and lengths. I’ve got a gazillion solid purple tops, a gazillion solid black tops, a million solid brown tops–it’s a rarity that I’ll spice things up and get a printed top. If I had to choose my favorite solid? It was love at first sight ❤

What is your passion?

There’s a few things I’m passionate about. First, is my family. I’m so crazy about my husband and my kids. I absolutely love spending time with them. Becoming a mom has been one of, if not, the most life changing experience for me and it’s exciting to have something new and something forever to be passionate about.

Second, I’m passionate about learning. I’m a teacher but not only do I love teaching, I love learning. I love learning from my students, from literature I read, from what’s happening in the world, from friends, from people I’ve never met in person, from my husband, from my kids. I love that I’m constantly learning; I love that knowledge is limitless.

——————–

Okay, so I have to choose a few people. I’m new to the blogosphere and don’t many bloggers but I’ll choose a couple I’ve been enjoying recently.
