Unlucky Week #7 of Marathon Training

Welp, you’re gonna have one of them weeks….

Last Monday, I was still recovering from my 15 trail miles the day before so I skipped my scheduled tempo run.

Tuesday, I typically run with my running group but my kids were sick, again, and I had to rush home to pick them up from school. The bummer part is that they have to stay at least 24 hours and the next day was the first day of school/work! My husband stayed home so that I could be there on that ever important first day and when we saw the kids needed more time to recover, he stayed the following day as well. 😦 The poor kids can’t seem to catch a break.

Thursday I needed to run to unload some of the stress and got in a very late 4 miles:

10516658_746462862084684_8741482969828929247_nFriday was a rest day but I don’t recall getting any rest.

I had 10 miles on the agenda for Saturday and I somehow got out of bed at crazy o’clock to get it done. And that’s pretty much all I did. Get it done.

It was the hardest long run so far in my training.

I had to stop and walk multiple times. I just don’t know what it was. The adjusting back to work. The sick kids at home. A case of the bad runs. Or just a combination of all three.

I was not feeling it at all.

But, like I said, I got it done and that made me feel a little better.

10534681_747830638614573_784631177923549431_nI know that we’ll have weeks like these in training. And I knew with going back to work things would get a little harder. I just need to stay positive and focused.

Everything is going to be all right.

How has your running been going? Give me a high since I’ve given you a low.

How do you shake out the negatives?

Throwback Thursday! {Link up}

I’ve been getting to know quite a few bloggers and love some of their link ups they’ve got going on. Last week I hooked up with the DC Trifecta girls and today I’m linking with Sue at This Mama Runs for Cupcakes (who I absolutely love–go check her out!) and three of her friends, Lynda, Sarah, and Sara.

The theme: Throwback Thursday

TBT final link up

I’m a relatively new blogger so my oldie but goodie is 7 months old. I wrote it at a time when I was struggling and I thought about this post today because well, I haven’t ran in a while and I want to make sure my motivation is still there. That’s what this post is about–what motivates me. Enjoy, and I’d love to know what motivates you when you’re struggling 🙂

Still Slowly Streaking!! {Blog Link-up}

streak

Ooookay, now I’m starting to feel the effects of running every day! I. Am. Tired.

I’ve gone back and forth, back and forth on stopping the streak and resting my legs and each time I tell myself it’s only a mile. But then I say, a mile is a mile. That’s nothing to knock off.

So I’m still going. Slowly, but I’m still going. I like to call Salt, Speedy Streaker; I’m Struggling Streaker jaja!! : ) Here’s my Streak Week Re-cap:

Thursday 12/19, Friday 12/20, and Saturday 12/21 I re-capped in detail here. I was crazy person and ran almost 20 miles in those three days!

Sunday through Thursday 12/22-26 have been one… single… mile…. each day.

And that’s it. There’s the re-cap! Nothing too exciting

Total Streaking Mileage: 88 miles

I decided from the last time I wrote to give myself a little break and seeing that it was the holidays and I’d have my husband home for almost an entire week, I figured no time like now to lighten the mileage. I’ve been foam rolling and icing every night and stretching, and also hoping that my leg heals a bit so I can perform well in my ½ and continue to train for my full.

I have a short long run planned for this Saturday and then I’m going back to a one mile a day until New Year’s. I signed up for the Commitment Day 5K my gym sponsors so that’ll be Wednesday and I plan to continue my *regular training leading up to my ½ mid-January. (*I plan on knocking off a running day—4 days to 3—and making it another cross training day per my doctor’s suggestion leading up to my 1/2).

We’ll see how it goes. You know I’ll keep you posted!

Here’s a holiday pic of my two sweeties : )
