Still Slowly Streaking!! {Blog Link-up}

streak

Ooookay, now I’m starting to feel the effects of running every day! I. Am. Tired.

I’ve gone back and forth, back and forth on stopping the streak and resting my legs and each time I tell myself it’s only a mile. But then I say, a mile is a mile. That’s nothing to knock off.

So I’m still going. Slowly, but I’m still going. I like to call Salt, Speedy Streaker; I’m Struggling Streaker jaja!! : ) Here’s my Streak Week Re-cap:

Thursday 12/19, Friday 12/20, and Saturday 12/21 I re-capped in detail here. I was crazy person and ran almost 20 miles in those three days!

Sunday through Thursday 12/22-26 have been one… single… mile…. each day.

And that’s it. There’s the re-cap! Nothing too exciting

Total Streaking Mileage : 88 miles

I decided from the last time I wrote to give myself a little break and seeing that it was the holidays and I’d have my husband home for almost an entire week, I figured no time like now to lighten the mileage. I’ve been foam rolling and icing every night and stretching, and also hoping that my leg heals a bit so I can perform well in my ½ and continue to train for my full.

I have a short long run planned for this Saturday and then I’m going back to a one mile a day until New Year’s. I signed up for the Commitment Day 5K my gym sponsors so that’ll be Wednesday and I plan to continue my *regular training leading up to my ½ mid-January. (*I plan on knocking off a running day—4 days to 3—and making it another cross training day per my doctor’s suggestion leading up to my 1/2).

We’ll see how it goes. You know I’ll keep you posted!

Here’s a holiday pic of my two sweeties : )

The 12 Days of Fitmas

images

I thought it’d be a fun to a little something leading up to the big day, Christmas. Starting today, when you come to my blog you’ll find your “task” for that day of fitness. Some of them will be easy, some will be hard, some will be silly, and some will make you think.

I hope everyone is enjoying this winter season and I look forward to hearing what you think about the 12 Days of Fitmas.

On the 12 th day of Fitmas…

ENJOY THE HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES

I know many have holiday parties to attend, family to visit, goodies being brought into the office—it’s okay to indulge every now and then. Really, it is.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m part of an online Healthy Moms group and every day it seems like a mom talks about how she feels guilty for eating a brownie or that they ate too many cookies. Hey, it’s not like you’re eating cookies every day of the week/month/year. It’s the holidays. Enjoy the cookie!

I never like to deprive myself of food. If something smells good, looks good, and tastes good, it’s going in. Part of staying fit is well, staying fit. I know that even though I might indulge, I’m going to still work out. Will I do something a little extra? Maybe, if I’m up for it. The point is, if you make fitness an integral part of your life, you’re able to have fun with food and not worry about having 2, 3, 10 cookies.

So on the 12th day of Christmas, eat the brownie : )

Do you ever feel guilty for indulging?

Or,

Do you have fun with food?

Week Three Marathon Training Recap

One of the things I hear the most from people is, “You always have something going on!” It’s true. It’s like I thrive on having a lot to do jaja! That’s actually part of why my blog is named hellyontherun—I’m always running around everywhere, literally and figuratively

This past week was busy busy as I’m sure it was for most Americans preparing for the holidays. Last Sunday we began Christmas decorating (I know, I know, Thanksgiving hadn’t even happened) and I had the cutest little helper.

I had to rearrange my training schedule for the holiday and because we were going out of town so I did my tempo run on Monday—a chill 4 miles. On Tuesday I had my doctor’s appointment to check out my shins which I wrote about here. Tuesday this guy also had an appointment–

–his 4 month check-up. Yep, 4 months already!

That same day (told you I was busy) we hit the road down south.

Wednesday, my husband and I ran an easy 2 miles to get acclimated to the cold weather. I love running in Douglas but I forget how cold it can get there.

Thursday was Turkey Trot 5k day and boy was it an awesome day : )

Friday morning my husband and I did another easy 2 miles (I started the Runner’s World Streak Challenge on Thanksgiving) before we hit the road back to Phoenix.

Saturday morning at 5:30 I was up and ready for my long run, 8 miles. I decided that after a whirlwind week I’d make it an easy 8 so I started the first half of it at a very comfortable pace. The second half I picked up the pace. Here are my all over the place splits:

1- 10:48
2- 10:51
3- 10:56
4- 10:52
5- 10:43
6- 10:17
7- 10:08
8- 9:43

19 total miles for the week and finished November with a grand total of 50.43 miles.

Oh, and this happened today : )
